These poems reflect the need that was planted in me to find comfort and meaning from something eternal and more than physical. While I have no reason for believing in God or the things of the Bible, I wrote these poems once. They may also challenge one's typical understanding of God because often those who are raised in the west and exposed to Christian traditions have valued the omnipotence of God - how all-powerful "He" is. I have always instinctually, despite the best efforts of Christianity to teach me otherwise, believed that God must be both mother and father - male and female, protector and comforter. Whether I believe or not in these things now is irrelevant. Poets write about feelings and so it is curious that I have these feelings.
